Beer-Braised Short Ribs Slow Cooker

Ingredients

  • 3/4 pound (1 3 kg) beef short ribs
  • 2 tbsps (30 g) packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • ¼ cup (31 g) flour
  • 1 cup (160 g) chopped onion
  • 1 cup (235 ml) low-salt beef broth
  • 12 ounces 355 ml beer, preferably ale or dark beer

Method

  1. Place the beef in the slow cooker
  2. Add the brown sugar, garlic, and flour
  3. Toss to coat
  4. Place onions over top
  5. Stir the broth and beer in a small bowl
  6. Pour over the beef
  7. Cover and cook on low for 8 to 9 hours or until the beef is fork-tender
  8. Yield: 8 servings
  9. Per serving: 205 g water; 350 calories (47% from fat, 41% from protein, 12% from carb)
  10. Serve with mashed potatoes or noodles
