Wassail Slow Cooker Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (200 g) sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1½ cinnamon sticks
  • ½ teaspoon allspice
  • 1 cup (235 ml) water
  • 950 ml orange juice
  • 2½ quarts (2.4 L) apple cider or juice
  • 1½ cups (355 ml) lemon juice

Method

  1. Mix the first four ingredients in a saucepan
  2. Stir in water and simmer until sugar dissolves, stirring constantly
  3. Add orange juice, apple cider, and lemon juice to sugar mixture
  4. Transfer to slow cooker and cook on low for 2 hours
  5. Serve warm or cool
  6. Refrigerate to serve chilled
  7. Yield: 12 servings
  8. Per serving: 301 g water; 206 calories (2% from fat, 2% from protein, 96% from carb)
