Authentic Chocolate Chip Cookies

Authentic Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

Makes about 2 dozen cookies

  • 1/2 cup vegan margarine, softened
  • ¾ cup light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semisweet vegan chocolate chips

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the margarine and sugar until light and fluffy
  3. Stir in the maple syrup and vanilla and mix until smooth
  4. In a separate large bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt
  5. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring well to combine
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips
  7. Drop the dough by the tablespoonful onto ungreased baking sheets
  8. Bake until slightly browned around the edges, about 15 minutes
  9. Cool for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely, about 20 minutes
  10. When completely cool, store in an airtight container
