Authentic Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients
Makes about 2 dozen cookies
- 1/2 cup vegan margarine, softened
- ¾ cup light brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semisweet vegan chocolate chips
Method
- Preheat the oven to 350°F
- In a large bowl, cream together the margarine and sugar until light and fluffy
- Stir in the maple syrup and vanilla and mix until smooth
- In a separate large bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring well to combine
- Fold in the chocolate chips
- Drop the dough by the tablespoonful onto ungreased baking sheets
- Bake until slightly browned around the edges, about 15 minutes
- Cool for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely, about 20 minutes
- When completely cool, store in an airtight container
