Scalloped Oysters Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 pint oysters
  • 1/2 cup oyster liquor (the liquid oysters are sold in)
  • 2 tbsp. light cream
  • 1/2 cup white bread crumbs
  • 1 cup cracker crumbs
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • salt.
  • pepper.

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 400F
  2. Mix bread and cracker crumbs with melted butter
  3. Spread thin layer of crumbs on bottom of greased shallow baking dish
  4. Cover with half of oysters, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and add half of cream and oyster liquor
  5. Repeat layers, and cover top with crumbs
  6. Bake for 30 minutes
  7. If you increase the quantities, use a larger dish and still only two layers
