Swedish Bread Recipe

Ingredients

Serving Size : 1

  • 1 recipe Rich Swedish dough – see recipe
  • 1/2 cup diced mixed candied fruits
  • 1/2 cup golden raisins – rinsed and drained
  • 2 tablespoons butter – melted

Method

  1. Rinse raisins in hot water and drain.
  2. Turn dough out on lightly floured board and knead in fruit and raisins until evenly distributed throughout.
  3. Divide in half and shape each in smooth round balls.
  4. Place in 2 greased 8″ round cake pans.
  5. With sharp knife or razor blade, cut a large cross abut 1/4 inch deep on top of each ball.
  6. Brush with butter.
  7. Let rise in warm place free from draft until light to touch and doubled in bulk, about 50 minutes.
  8. Bake 45 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Brush again with butter.
  10. Cool on wire rack.
  11. Slice or cut in wedges to serve.
