Ingredients
- 2 tbsps (16 g) flour
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 pound (900 g) beef round steak
- 2 tbsps (28 ml) olive oil
- 1 cup (160 g) sliced onion
- 1 can (8 ounces, or 225 g) no-salt-added tomato sauce
- 225g low-salt spaghetti sauce
- ½ cup (120 ml) water
- ½ teaspoon basil
- ½ teaspoon oregano
Method
- Combine flour and pepper in a resealable plastic bag
- Cut steak into 6 pieces, add to bag, and shake to coat
- Heat oil in a large skillet
- Brown steak on both sides
- Place onions in slow cooker
- Place steak on top
- Combine remaining ingredients and pour over steak
- Cook on low 8 to 10 hours or on high 4 to 5 hours
- Yield: 6 servings
- Per serving: 214 g water; 308 calories (34% from fat, 48% from protein, 18% from carb)
