Low Fat Savory Sourdough French Toast
Ingredients
8 slices sourdough bread, 3/4-inch-thick slices
1/2 cup refrigerated egg product, or frozen egg substitute, thawed
1/2 cup skim milk
4 tablespoons reduced-fat cream cheese, neufchatel
4 tablespoons jalapeno pepper jelly
Method
Spray a 3-quart rectangular baking dish with nonstick spray coating.
Place bread slices in prepared dish.
Stir together egg product and milk.
Pour over bread slices, turning to coat well.
Cover and let stand 5 minutes.
Bake in a 350°F oven for 15 minutes.
Turn and bake 15 minutes more or till light golden brown.
Meanwhile, melt jelly in a saucepan over low heat.
To serve, spread cream cheese over baked slices and drizzle with jelly.
