Corn Chowder With Crab Slow Cooker Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 slices low-salt bacon, diced
  • ¼ cup (40 g) chopped onion
  • 2-3 potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 pound (455 g) frozen corn
  • 1 tbsp (13 g) sugar
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • ½ cup (120 ml) water
  • 1 cup (235 ml) skim milk
  • 170g crab meat

Method

  1. In skillet, brown bacon until crisp
  2. Remove bacon, reserving drippings
  3. Add onions and potatoes to skillet and saute for 5 minutes
  4. Drain
  5. Combine all ingredients in slow cooker except milk and crab meat
  6. Mix well
  7. Cover and cook on low 6 to 7 hours
  8. Stir in milk and crab during the last 30 minutes of cooking
  9. Yield: 4 servings
  10. Per serving: 336 g water; 364 calories (15% from fat, 22% from protein, 62% from carb)
