Chocolate-Almond Bars Recipe

Ingredients

Makes 12 bars

  • 2/3 cup vegan margarine, melted
  • 1/2 cup almond butter
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup vegan semisweet chocolate chips
  • ¾ cup slivered almonds

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F
  2. Lightly grease an 8-inch square baking pan and set aside
  3. In a large bowl, combine the margarine, almond butter, vanilla and salt
  4. Add the sugar and stir until well blended
  5. Add the flour and stir until well blended
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips and half of the almonds
  7. Press the dough into the prepared pan
  8. Sprinkle the remaining almonds over the top and press them into the dough
  9. Bake until browned, 25 to 30 minutes
  10. Cool completely before cutting into bars
  11. Store in an airtight container
