Double Chocolate Brownies Recipe

Ingredients

Makes 12 brownies

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegan margarine
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2/3 cup vegan semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F
  2. Lightly oil an 8-inch square baking pan and set aside
  3. In a large bowl, combine the flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt
  4. Set aside
  5. In a medium bowl, cream together the sugar and margarine until light and fluffy
  6. Stir in the water and vanilla and blend until smooth
  7. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring to blend
  8. Fold in the chocolate chips
  9. Scrape the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake until the center is set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 40 minutes
  10. Let the brownies cool 30 minutes before serving
  11. Store in an airtight container
