Stew-Da-Loo Recipe

Ingredients

  • Serving Size : 8
  • 2 pounds cubed lean beef for stew
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 3 1/2 cups water
  • 1 medium onion – sliced
  • 1 tablespoon Heinz Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 6 medium potatoes – cubed
  • 4 medium carrots – cut into 1/4″
  • 2 medium onions – cut into eighths
  • 1 cup Heinz Tomato Ketchup
  • 1/2 cup dry red wine
  • 1 package frozen peas – (10 oz)

Method

  1. In large saucepan or Dutch oven, brown meat well in shortening.
  2. Add water and next 4 ingredients.
  3. Cover; simmer 45 minutes or until meat is almost tender, stirring occasionally.
  4. Add potatoes, carrots and onions.
  5. Cover; simmer 30 minutes or until vegetables are tender.
  6. Stir in ketchup, wine and peas.
  7. Cover; simmer 20 minutes longer.
  8. Thicken sauce with flour/water mixture, if desired.
  9. Makes 8 – 10 servings.
