Ingredients

  • Serving Size : 8
  • 1 head red cabbage – about 4 lbs.
  • 2 onions
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tart apples – green
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • salt
  • pepper

Method

  1. Slice or chop cabbage and onions fine.
  2. Saute onions in butter.
  3. Add sliced or chopped apples.
  4. Stir to prevent burning.
  5. Add cabbage and water.
  6. Cook slowly for approximately one hour.
  7. Add vinegar and sugar.
  8. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  9. Preparation and cooking time: about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
