Vegan Worcestershire Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

Makes about ¾ cup

  • 1/2 cup cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon dark molasses
  • 1 tablespoon dark brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon ground kelp or dulse
  • 1 teaspoon tamarind paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne

Method

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a small saucepan and bring to a boil, then remove from the heat and allow to cool to room temperature
  2. Transfer to a jar or other container with a tight-fitting lid and store in the refrigerator
  3. Properly stored, the sauce will keep for 1 month
