Vegan Marinara Sauce Recipe
Ingredients
Makes about 31/2 cups
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 3 garlic cloves, crushed
- 1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon minced fresh basil or 1 teaspoon dried
- ¾ teaspoon minced fresh oregano or 1/2 teaspoon dried
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- pinch sugar
- 2 bay leaves
Method
- In a large saucepan, heat the oil over medium heat
- Add the garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30seconds
- Add the tomatoes, basil, oregano, salt, pepper, sugar and bay leaves
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally
- Remove and discard the garlic cloves and bay leaves before serving
