Vegan Caramel Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

Makes about 1 cup

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup plain or vanilla soy milk

Method

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar and water and bring to a boil
  2. Reduce the heat to low and simmer until it turns an amber color, about 8 minutes
  3. Do not burn
  4. Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla and soy milk
  5. Simmer over low heat until it thickens slightly, stirring constantly
  6. Serve warm or chilled
  7. Store leftover sauce covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days
