Ingredients
- 10 c. flour
- 2 c. milk
- 1/4 lb. butter
- 1 yeast cake
- 6 eggs
- 1/4 c. warm water to melt yeast cake
- 2 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 tbsp. Crisco
Method
- Beat eggs until golden
- Add sugar and warm milk; melt butter and Crisco
- Pour milk mixture onto eggs
- Stir well
- Pour yeast cake that has been melted in warm water into this mixture
- Add flour; stir well
- Knead for 15 minutes
- Let rise until double in bulk
- Knead again
- Let rise until triple in bulk
- Grease 3 large bread pans
- Separate dough into 3 pans
- Let rise until double in bulk
- Slit top with sharp knife or scissors and brush top with egg whites
- Bake at 300 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes
- Cool on rack
