Ingredients
- 475 ml skim milk
- ¾ cup (175 ml) egg substitute
- 1/3 cup (67 g) sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon brown sugar
Method
- Heat milk in a small saucepan until a skin forms on top
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly
- Meanwhile, in a large mixing bowl combine egg substitute, sugar, and vanilla
- Slowly stir cooled milk into egg-sugar mixture
- Pour into a greased 1-quart (950 ml) baking dish which will fit into your slow cooker or into a baking insert designed for your slow cooker
- Mix cinnamon and brown sugar in a small bowl
- Sprinkle over custard mixture
- Cover baking dish or insert with foil
- Set container on a metal rack, trivet, or crumpled foil in slow cooker
- Pour hot water around dish to a depth of 1 inch (2
- 5 cm)
- Cover and cook on high 2 to 3 hours or until custard is set
- When blade of a knife inserted in center of custard comes out clean, custard is set
- Serve warm from baking dish or insert
- Yield: 6 servings
- Per serving: 100 g water; 107 calories (11% from fat, 27% from protein, 63% from carb)
