Rice Au Gratin Recipe

Ingredients

  • recipe for: O Graten Rice Au Gratin
  • Serving Size : 6
  • 3 1/2 cups chicken or beef broth
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 1/2 cups raw rice
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 1/2 cups kefalotiri cheese – grated
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup ham – chopped
  • 3 tablespoons bread crumbs – toasted

Method

  1. Boil broth with 2 tbsp of the butter
  2. Add rice, stirring it so it doesn’t stick.
  3. Add salt and pepper.
  4. Cover pot and simmer until liquid is absorbed (about 15 min).
  5. Add 2/3 of the cheese, mix well, then remove from heat.
  6. Half cool.
  7. Beat egg lightly and add to rice.
  8. Add ham and mix in well with a fork.
  9. Butter a baking pan.
  10. Put rice in and spread evenly.
  11. Sprinkle with remaining cheese and then the bread crumbs.
  12. Melt the remaining butter and drizzle it over the top of the rice.
  13. Bake in preheated 350 F oven about 15 min, or until golden brown.
  14. Serves 4-6.
