Quick And Moist Sour Bread Recipe

Ingredients

  • Serving Size : 1
  • 5 cups unsifted self-rising flour
  • 5 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups Borden sour cream
  • 12 ounces beer

Method

  1. Melted butter
  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  3. In large bowl, combine flour and sugar.
  4. Add sour cream and beer alternately; mix well.
  5. Pour batter into greased 2-quart round baking dish.
  6. Bake 45 minutes; brush top with butter.
  7. Bake 15 to 20 minutes longer or until cake tester inserted completely into center comes out clean.
  8. Cool slightly.
  9. Serve warm, cool or toasted.
  10. TIP:
  11. All-purpose flour may be substituted for self-rising flour.
  12. Add 2 tbsp plus 2 tsp baking powder.
  13. 1/2 tsp salt.
  14. Stir into the flour and sugar.
  15. Proceed as directed.
  16. Baking time may require additional 5 to 10 minutes.
  17. Test for doneness.
