Ingredients
- 1/2 c. mashed potato
- 3/4 c. potato water from cooked potato, 105 degrees
- 2 pkgs. active dry yeast
- 1/3 c. sweetened condensed milk or milk
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. melted margarine
- 3 eggs, lightly beaten
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 tsp. grated orange peel
- 5 c. flour
Method
- Add yeast to potato water cooled to 105 degrees
- Set aside for 5 minutes
- Then add milk, sugar, margarine, eggs, nutmeg, orange peel, and potato mixture
- Then gradually add and mix 4 1/2 cups flour; spread remaining flour on board and knead dough in remaining flour; add enough flour to keep dough from being sticky, knead until smooth and satiny
- Let rise in greased bowl until doubled
- Place rounded dough on cookie sheet to rise
- Makes 24
