Portuguese Fishermans Stew Recipe

Ingredients

  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 lb. white, boneless fish (chunked)
  • salt fish and let stand for a few hours
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 fresh lemon
  • 1 (19 oz can tomatoes
  • 1 (8 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp crushed sweet pepper (Hungarian paprika)
  • salt & pepper to taste.
  • 1/2 bunch parsley
  • 1/2 c white wine or water
  • 1 1/2 c water

Method

  1. Brown onions in the olive oil
  2. Add remaining ingredients except for the fish and continue to simmer for 30 minutes
  3. Add fish and continue to cook until fish flakes
  4. Serve in deep soup bowl over Italian or French bread
  5. Serve 4 large servings
  6. Freezes well
