Ingredients
- 1 tbsp (15 ml) vegetable oil
- ½ cup (60 g) flour
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- 1 pound (900 g) round steak
- 300 g green bell pepper, sliced into rings
- 300 g red bell pepper, sliced into rings
- 4 cups (640 g) onion, sliced into rings
- 1 can (28 ounces, or 785 g) no-salt-added diced tomatoes
Method
- Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat
- In a bowl, mix the flour, pepper, and paprika
- Dredge the steaks in the flour mixture and place in the skillet
- Brown steaks on both sides and remove from heat
- In a slow cooker, alternate layers of steak, green pepper, red pepper, onion, and tomatoes
- Cover and cook 6 to 8 hours on low until steaks are very tender
- Yield: 6 servings
- Per serving: 414 g water; 392 calories (22% from fat, 49% from protein, 29% from carb)
