Ingredients

- 3 tablespoons butter – or salad oil
- 1 large onion – chopped
- 1/2 cup chopped celery
- 1 green pepper – chopped
- 1 pound ground beef – or more to taste
- 6 ounces tomato paste
- 1 large canned tomatoes
- 1 small canned tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 3 whole cloves
- 4 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 can kidney beans – or 2 cans
Method
- Combine butter in skillet or sauce pan.
- Add the onion, celery, green peppers and ground beef, saute until meat is brown but not crusty, drain.
- Stir frequently separating meat with a fork.
- Add the tomatoes, tomato paste, salt, sugar, cloves and chili powder, blend well.
- Cover.
- Over high heat until the mixture steams, then reduce heat to simmer and cook 45 minutes.
- Remove cloves, add kidney beans and simmer 15 minutes longer.
