Date Sticks Recipe

Ingredients

  • Serving Size : 1
  • 1 cup sifted flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 Eggs – well beaten
  • 1 tablespoon hot water
  • 1/2 cup nut meats – chopped
  • 2 cups dates – seeded and finely

Method

  1. Sift flour once, measure, add baking powder, and sift again.
  2. Cream butter, add sugar gradually, and cream together until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs; then add water and flour, beating until smooth.
  4. Add nuts and dates.
  5. Turn into 2 greased pans 8x8x2 inches, spreading dough out very thin.
  6. Bake in moderate oven (325 degrees) 30 minutes.
  7. Cool.
  8. Cut into strips, 1×2 2/3 inches.
  9. Remove from pan.
  10. Roll in powdered sugar.
  11. Makes 4 dozen sticks.
