Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter – 1 stick
- 2 tablespoons cocoa
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup butter – 1 stick
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup coffee – strong brewed
- 1/2 cup kahlua – tia maria, or any ty
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup cocoa
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla espresso beans – chocolate covered
Method
- Preheat oven to 400
- FOR FROSTING: In saucepan, combine butter, cocoa and milk.
- Bring to a boil.
- Stir in vanilla and powdered sugar until frosting reaches proper consistency.
- BROWNIES: In another saucepan, combine butter, shortening, coffee and liqueur.
- Stir, let boil.
- In a large mixing bowl, mix the flour and sugar.
- Pour butter-shortening mixture over the flour and sugar in bowl.
- Add the buttermilk, eggs, baking soda and vanilla.
- Pour into well buttered 17×1/2 by 11 inches jelly roll pan.
- Bake for 30 minutes or until brownies test done in the center.
- Frost brownies immediately.
- Garnish with expresso beans.
- Let cool until ready to eat, then cut into bars.
