Cheese Casserole Recipe

Ingredients

  • (must prepare a day in advance)
  • 9 slices stale bread salt and pepper
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon instant minced onion
  • 1 pound very sharp Cheddar cheese, grated
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Method

  1. Cut each slice of bread into 3 strips
  2. Fit 9 strips in the bottom of Amontillado greased 2 quart casserole
  3. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, 1/3 onions and 1/3 cheese
  4. Press down
  5. Repeat twice
  6. Beat eggs
  7. Add milk, mustard and Worcestershire sauce
  8. Pour over bread
  9. Let stand overnight in refrigerator
  10. Remove 2 hours before serving
  11. An hour before serving, bake in a preheated 325 degree F oven for 50-60 minutes or until firm in the center
