Winter Fruit Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

Makes about 2 cups

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup dried mixed fruit
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup apple juice

Method

  1. In a large saucepan, combine the water, dried fruit, lemon juice and cinnamon
  2. Cover and bring toa boil over high heat
  3. Reduce heat to medium and simmer for 20 minutes
  4. Remove from the heat and set aside to cool, 15 minutes, then transfer to a blender or food processor and process until smooth
  5. Add the apple juice and process until blended
  6. Return the sauce to the saucepan and heat on low until warm
  7. Store leftover sauce covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days
