Thai-Style Iced Tea Recipe

Ingredients

Makes 2 to 3 servings

  • 3 cups hot brewed Thai tea (cha Thai) or black tea
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar, or to taste
  • 3 cardamom pods, crushed, or 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1 cup plain or vanilla soy milk or other dairy-free milk

Method

  1. In a large saucepan, combine the tea, sugar and cardamom over medium-high heat
  2. Simmer, stirring, until the sugar is dissolved
  3. Remove from the heat and stir in the soy milk
  4. Strain out cardamom pods, if using
  5. Pour the tea into a pitcher and refrigerate until chilled, about 1 hour
  6. Serve over ice in tall glasses
