Sweet-And-Sour Red Cabbage Recipe

Ingredients

  • Serving Size : 6
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 4 apples; medium , peel, slice
  • 1/2 onion; red, chopped
  • 1 red cabbage; head,fine shred
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 4 cloves; whole
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • lemon juice;of 1/2 medium lemon

Method

  1. Melt butter in 4-quart Dutch oven.
  2. Add apples and onions, saute slightly.
  3. Add finely shredded cabbage, red wine, cloves, sugar, and bay leaves.
  4. Simmer, covered, for 1 hour, then add the remaining ingredients.
  5. Heat to melt the butter and serve immediately.
