Strawberry Sorbet Recipe

Ingredients

Makes about 1 pint

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 cups hulled strawberries
  • 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice

Method

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar and water
  2. Cook, stirring, over low heat until sugar is dissolved, about 3 minutes
  3. Increase the heat to high and bring to a boil, then remove from the heat
  4. Transfer to a heatproof bowl and refrigerate until chilled about 2 hours
  5. In a blender or food processor, combine the strawberries and lemon juice and blend until smooth
  6. Add the cooled sugar syrup to the strawberry mixture and process until smooth
  7. Freeze the mixture in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturers instructions
  8. When the mixture is finished churning in the machine, it will be soft, but ready to eat
  9. For a firmer sorbet, transfer to a freezer-safe container and freeze no more than 1 to 2 hours for best flavor and texture
