Sausage Chili Slow Cooker Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 pound (455 g) breakfast sausage
  • 1 1 pound (455 g) extra-lean ground beef
  • 1 kg kidney beans, cooked or canned without salt
  • 1 can (28 ounces, or 785 g) no-salt-added whole peeled tomatoes, cut up
  • 1 cup (160 g) chopped onion
  • 1 cup (150 g) chopped green bell pepper
  • 1 cup (100 g) sliced celery
  • 1 can (6 ounces, or 170 g) no-salt-added tomato paste
  • ½ teaspoon minced garlic
  • 2 tsps chili powder

Method

  1. In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook sausage and ground beef until browned; drain off excess fat
  2. Transfer meat to slow cooker
  3. Stir in the remaining ingredients
  4. Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours
  5. Yield: 10 servings
  6. Per serving: 212 g water; 376 calories (53% from fat, 24% from protein, 23% from carb)
