Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups cooking oil
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. cocoa
- 1 oz. red cake food coloring (1 bottle)
- 1 tsp. vinegar
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 2 ½ cups plain flour
- 1 cup buttermilk mixed with 1 ½ tsp. vanilla extract
Frosting:
- 1 stick margarine
- 8-oz. pkg. cream cheese
- 1 box confectioners sugar 1 cup finely chopped nuts
Method
- Preheat oven to 350F
- Cream together the oil, sugar and eggs
- Mix the cocoa, food coloring and vinegar
- Add to first mixture
- Sift baking soda with plain flour
- Add to creamed mixture, alternating with vanillaflavored buttermilk
- Bake in 2 cake pans for 30 minutes
Frosting.
- Whip margarine and cream cheese together
- Mix in the sugar and nuts
- Spread on cake when cold
