Ingredients

- 1 1/4 cups sifted flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 teaspoon soda
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 cup yellow corn meal
- 3 tablespoons shortening – melted
- 1 1/4 cups sour milk
- 2 Eggs – well beaten
Method
- Sift flour once, measure, add baking powder, salt, soda, and sugar, and sift again.
- Add corn meal.
- Combine milk and eggs.
- Add to dry ingredients, mixing well.
- Bake in greased shallow pan in hot oven (425 degrees) 40 minutes, or until done.
- May also be baked in corn stick pans.
