Pear Crumble Recipe

Ingredients

Makes 6 servings

  • 5 ripe Bartlett pears, peeled, cored and cut into 1/4-inch slices
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegan margarine, cut into small pieces

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F
  2. Place the pear slices in a 9-inch square baking pan and sprinkle with the sugar, the cornstarch, 1/2 teaspoon of the allspice and the ginger
  3. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, oats, sugar and remaining 1/2 teaspoon of allspice
  4. Use a pastry blender or fork to cut in the margarine until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs
  5. Spread the topping over the pears and bake until browned and bubbly, about 40 minutes
  6. Serve warm
