Orange Miso Salmon Recipe

Ingredients

For the marinade

  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 4 teaspoons red miso paste or tahini
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar or rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon peeled and minced fresh ginger
  • juice of 1/2 orange (about 2 tablespoons)
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1 tablespoon coconut sugar
  • 11/2 pounds wild salmon, sliced into four fillets
  • garnish: sliced green onions, fresh cilantro, orange wedges, 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 420°F
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
  3. Combine the sesame oil, miso paste, vinegar, ginger, orange juice, orange zest, and sugar in a large bowl or resealable plastic bag
  4. Reserve 1/4 cup in a separate bowl
  5. Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel, then add them to the marinade in the bowl
  6. Cover and marinate in the fridge for 20 minutes to 1 hour
  7. Place the fillets on the baking sheet, skin side down
  8. Bake in the oven for 7 to 9 minutes, then remove from the oven
  9. Set the oven to broil and drizzle a tablespoon of the reserved marinade over each fillet
  10. Broil for 2 to 4 minutes, or until the glaze on the top and sides of the fillets caramelizes
