Ingredients
- 1 large onion, sliced very thin
- large bowl of ice water
- 1 cup self-rising flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
Method
- Soak the onions in the ice water for at least 10 minutes
- In a large bowl, mix the flour with salt, pepper, paprika and garlic powder
- Remove the onions from the ice water and toss in the seasoned flour
- Fry in hot oil until the onion rings are golden brown
- Don’t overfill the basket or pan!
- Shake several times during the cooking process
- Drain excess oil on kitchen paper
- Repeat with remaining batches of onions
