Nutcracker Sweets Recipe

Ingredients

  • Serving Size : 1
  • 4 cups popped popcorn
  • 2/3 cup pecan halves
  • 1/3 cup unblanched whole almonds
  • 2 tablespoons butter – melted
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Method

  1. Lightly butter jelly-roll pan.
  2. In large bowl, combine popcorn, pecans, almonds and melted butter.
  3. Sprinkle lightly with salt.
  4. Spread in buttered pan.
  5. In medium heavy saucepan, combine sugar, 1/2 cup butter and corn syrup.
  6. Bring to a boil over medium high heat, stirring constantly.
  7. Continue boiling 5-10 minutes or until mixture turns a light caramel color, stirring occasionally.
  8. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla.
  9. Pour over popcorn and nuts.
  10. Toss to coat.
  11. Spread out to cool and harden.
  12. Break apart and store in loosely covered container.
  13. Makes 8 cups.
