Ingredients
- 1 pound (455 g) dried navy beans
- ½ cup (80 g) chopped onion
- ½ pound (225 g) ham
- ½ cup (115 g) packed brown sugar
- ½ cup (160 g) maple syrup
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp dry mustard
Method
- Cover beans with water
- Boil for 10 minutes and then let stand for 2 hours
- Drain and put beans in slow cooker
- Add all remaining ingredients along with 1 cup (235 ml) water; mix well
- Cover and cook on low 10 to 12 hours
- For thicker beans, uncover and turn to high during last hour
- Yield: 8 servings
- Per serving: 71 g water; 236 calories (11% from fat, 18% from protein, 71% from carb)
