Sour Cream Chocolate Cake

Sour Cream Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

  • Serving Size : 1
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 Eggs
  • 4 ounces melted unsweetened chocolate – cool

Method

  1. Sour Cream Chocolate Frosting – see recipe
  2. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  3. Grease and flour oblong pan, 13x9x2 inches, or two 9″ or three 8″ round layer pans.
  4. Measure all ingredients except frosting into large mixer bowl.
  5. Mix 1/2 minute on low speed, scraping bowl constantly.
  6. Beat 3 minutes on high speed, scraping bowl occasionally.
  7. Pour into pan(s).
  8. Bake oblong 40 to 45 minutes, layers 30 to 35 minutes or until top springs back when touched lightly with finger.
  9. Cool.
  10. Frost with Sour Cream Chocolate frosting or other frosting of your choice.
