Ingredients
- nonstick cooking spray
- 8 ounces dried figs, stemmed and quartered
- 3 tablespoons marsala or water
- 3 large tart crisp apples, peeled and cored, cut in thick slices
- 2/3 cup all-purpose flour, plus
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour, divided
- 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon, divided
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 4 tablespoons butter, chilled, cut in 1/2-inch pieces
Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- With nonstick cooking spray, coat an 8- by 8-inch baking dish.
- Place figs and Marsala in a microwave-safe bowl.
- Cover with plastic wrap; microwave on High for 2 minutes.
- Let stand 5 minutes.
- Stir until most of liquid is absorbed.
- Set aside.
- Place apples in prepared baking dish.
- Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon flour and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon.
- Toss to coat.
- In small saucepan, over low heat, heat honey and 1 tablespoon butter until melted; drizzle over apples.
- Arrange figs over apples.
- In medium bowl, combine remaining flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, remaining cinnamon and salt.
- Cut in chilled butter until crumbly.
- Sprinkle over apples and figs.
- Bake 40 minutes, or until topping is golden brown and filling is bubbly.
- Serve warm.
