Southern Black-Eyed Peas Slow Cooker

Ingredients

  • 1 pound (455 g) dried black-eyed peas
  • 955 ml water
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup (160 g) chopped onion
  • ½ cup (50 g) chopped celery
  • ½ pound (255 g) ham, cut in pieces

Method

  1. Soak beans in water overnight
  2. Drain and place in slow cooker
  3. Add water and remaining ingredients
  4. Cover and cook on high 1 to 2 hours and then turn to low and cook 8 to 9 hours
  5. Yield: 6 servings

Serve over rice with cornbread
