Hush Puppy Puffs Recipe
Ingredients
- Serving Size : 1
- 3/4 cup cornmeal
- 3/4 cup self-rising flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon soda
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 1 Egg – slightly beaten
- 1 medium onion – finely chopped
Method
- Salad oil – or shortening
- Combine dry ingredients; add buttermilk, egg and onion, stirring well.
- Carefully drop batter by tablespoonfuls into deep hot oil; cook only a few at a time, turning once.
- Fry until hush puppies are golden brown (3 to 5 minutes).
- Drain well on absorbent towels.
- Yield: about 2 dozen
