German-Style Coleslaw Recipe

Ingredients

Makes 8 servings

  • 1 medium head green cabbage, shredded
  • 1 small yellow onion, minced
  • 1/2 medium green bell pepper, minced
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ¾ cup cider vinegar ¾ cup grapeseed oil
  • 1 teaspoon celery seeds
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Method

  1. In a large bowl, combine the cabbage, onion and bell pepper and set aside
  2. In a small saucepan combine the sugar, vinegar, oil, celery seeds, mustard and salt and cook over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves and the dressing is hot
  3. Pour the hot dressing over the cabbage mixture and toss to combine
  4. Cover and refrigerate at least 30 minutes before serving
