Ingredients
- 2 env. dry yeast
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. very warm water
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. milk
- 1/2 c. butter
- 4 eggs
- 7 to 7 1/2 c. white flour
Method
- Bake at 325 degrees for 55 minutes
- Sprinkle yeast into 1/2 cup very warm water with 1 teaspoon sugar
- Let stand 10 minutes
- Heat the milk, butter, salt and remaining sugar in small pan
- Cool to lukewarm
- Beat eggs in small bowl
- Add to yeast mixture
- Add 3 cups flour and milk mixture
- Add 4 cups flour to make soft dough
- Turn out on floured board and knead about 8 to 10 minutes
- Put dough in buttered bowl until double (1 hour)
- Punch down
- Let rest 10 minutes
- Divide into 3 loaves and let rise 1 hour
- Bake 35 to 45 minutes
