Ingredients
- 2 tsps olive oil
- 1 cup (160 g) finely chopped onion
- 1½ teaspoons minced garlic
- 2 cans 28 ounces, or 785g no-salt-added crushed tomatoes
- 2 teaspoons basil
- 1 tsp oregano
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tbsp (13 g) sugar
- 1 tbsp (4 g) fresh parsley
Method
- Heat oil in a saucepan over medium heat
- Add onion and garlic
- Saute until onion becomes very soft (about 10 minutes)
- Combine all ingredients except parsley in slow cooker
- Cover and cook on low 6 to 8 hours
- Add parsley
- Cook an additional 30 minutes
- Yield: 8 servings
- Per serving: 206 g water; 60 calories (19% from fat, 11% from protein, 70% from carb)
