Double Chocolate Picnic Cake Recipe

Ingredients

  • Serving Size : 1
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 Eggs
  • 4 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate squares – melted and cooled
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 1/4 cups sifted cake flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 Cup milk

Method

  1. Butter shallow 9x13x2 inch baking pan; line with waxed paper.
  2. Butter again; set aside.
  3. In mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar.
  4. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Mix in chocolate and vanilla.
  6. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
  7. Pour into prepared pan; bake 45 to 50 minutes in preheated 350 degree oven.
  8. Cool 10 minutes; invert on rack and remove paper immediately.
  9. When cool, frost with chocolate-vanilla ripple frosting.
