Ingredients

- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 Eggs
- 4 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate squares – melted and cooled
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 1/4 cups sifted cake flour
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 Cup milk
Method
- Butter shallow 9x13x2 inch baking pan; line with waxed paper.
- Butter again; set aside.
- In mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar.
- Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Mix in chocolate and vanilla.
- Sift together flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
- Pour into prepared pan; bake 45 to 50 minutes in preheated 350 degree oven.
- Cool 10 minutes; invert on rack and remove paper immediately.
- When cool, frost with chocolate-vanilla ripple frosting.
