Crostini Italian Toasts Recipe

Ingredients

Makes 12 Crostini

  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic (1 good-sized clove)
  • twelve ½-inch-thick diagonal slices from 1 or 2 french baguettes

Method

  1. Adjust the oven rack to the center position and preheat the oven (or toaster oven) to 350°f
  2. Line a baking tray with foil
  3. Combine the olive oil and garlic in a small bowl
  4. Lightly brush the bread on both sides with the olive oil-garlic mixture
  5. Arrange the bread slices on the prepared tray
  6. Bake for about 5 minutes, or until the bread is lightly toasted
  7. Keep an eye on it, so it doesn’t burn
  8. Remove the tray from the oven, and let the crostini cool for at least 5 minutes before serving
  9. Top with any of the toppings listed at the right
