Classic Pizza Soup Slow Cooker Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 pound (455 g) extra-lean ground beef
  • 725g low-salt spaghetti sauce
  • 1 can (14 ounces, or 400 g) no-salt-added diced tomatoes
  • 1½ cups (115 g) sliced mushrooms
  • ¾ cup (113 g) diced green bell pepper
  • 1 cup (160 g) chopped onion
  • 1 cup (235 ml) water
  • 1 tbsp (6 g) Italian seasoning
  • 115g part-skim mozzarella, shredded

Method

  1. Brown meat in a skillet over medium-high heat
  2. Drain
  3. Combine meat and remaining ingredients except cheese in slow cooker
  4. Cover and cook on low 8 to 10 hours
  5. Ladle into bowls and sprinkle with cheese
  6. Yield: 6 servings
  7. Per serving: 310 g water; 390 calories (50% from fat, 23% from protein, 27% from carb)
