Slow Cooker Chocolate Cake
Ingredients
- 1¼ cups (285 g) brown sugar, divided
- 1 cup (125 g) flour
- ½ cup (45 g) unsweetened cocoa powder, divided
- 1½ teaspoons baking powder
- ½ cup (120 ml) skim milk
- 2 tbsps (28 g) unsalted butter, melted
- ½ 1 tsp vanilla
- 1¾ cups (410 ml) boiling water
Method
- In a mixing bowl, mix together 1 cup (225 g) brown sugar, flour, ¼ cup (22 g) cocoa, and baking powder
- Stir in milk, butter, and vanilla
- Pour into slow cooker sprayed with nonstick cooking spray
- In a separate bowl, mix together ¼ cup (60 g) brown sugar and ¼ cup (22 g) cocoa
- Sprinkle over batter in the slow cooker
- Do not stir
- Pour boiling water over mixture
- Do not stir
- Cover and cook on high 1½ to 1¾ hours or until toothpick inserted into cake comes out clean
- Yield: 8 servings
- Per serving: 69 g water; 284 calories (11% from fat, 4% from protein, 84% from carb)
